Mother’s Day and Mark’s Birthday

Posted By on May 11, 2015

Yesterday was Mother’s Day. It was a pretty nice day overall, although it has been hard for all of us lately missing Zephyr. Today her absence was especially noted as she was always a part of my celebrations. I will forever consider her my little girl. Mark and Sam did a great job making a wonderful celebration for me. Sam was on her best behavior and we had a quiet morning together until Mark got up. The hardest part was making Sam wait to give me my presents! You would think they were for her, as excited as she was. That is one thing about my Sammy, she loves getting presents, but she loves giving them just as much.

Finally, we decided it was present time! My first gift was this beautiful ring Sam made for me all by herself. It sparkled so nicely and I love it. She wrapped it herself in a tiny box lined with white pom-poms (just like the cotton you normally use).

My next gift was the one Sam made at school. I love the wrapping paper and my card made to look like a purse. Sam said she picked out the stamps herself.

I love it and will treasure it forever.

Isn’t my decoration gorgeous! It’s amazing what you can craft out of a paper plate and bowl. Sam was so proud of what she had made, and I was extra proud of her and all the hard work she put into it.

Mark had taken Sam out to the mall to look for a Mother’s Day gift for me and they went into the game store. Sam and I love playing board games together so Mark told her to pick one out. She picked Pengoloo. I think more because you play with adorable little penguins more than for the actual object of the game, but that’s ok.

Next up were some new pajamas (one of my favorite gifts any time of year). Sam picked out two pairs, one with bees and one with ice cream cones. Good choices!

My big gift was a Pandora charm bracelet. Sam picked out all of the charms (the charms vary in price, but Mark said she has picked out what seemed like the most expensive ones…that’s my girl!) I have a snowflake, a little girl, a heart that says Mom and two balls (that Sam loves because they are sparkly like disco balls). I love it. Sam worked hard to pick out things she knew would remind me of her.

After gifts, Sam requested that Daddy make me heart shaped pancakes. He happily obliged. Yum! Sam and I shared a nice breakfast together then relaxed until everyone came for dinner.

We all got dressed up nicely for some family photos. That’s my girl! Best smooches ever. 🙂

Silly goose! Always hamming it up for the camera. That’s one thing about 5 year olds…they are rarely very serious.

We did manage to get her to calm down enough to take some pictures of our family.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom – the greatest one ever. I know I can always count on her for anything. I hope Sam always knows she can count on me, even when I am not at my best.

After dinner Sam and her Grandmom played Pengoloo. I am not sure who won, but they had a good time. Sam loves explaining the rules of games to everyone.

Since I had already opened my gifts (except one from my mom), we moved on to letting Mark open his birthday presents from us and his dad. His birthday was only two days away, and he knew what he was getting, so it wasn’t much of a surprise. Besides, it was stuff for his new car and he really, really wanted it! Mark got his all weather floor mats and cargo liner.

Sam wanted her Daddy to have something special from her so she made him this beautiful card showing our family celebrating at his party.  She worked so hard on it. Everyone is wearing party hats and I am carrying a cake.

Sam loves making everyone look silly. I am glad I escaped that one…Grandmom and Poppy were not so lucky.

While Sam waited for her Dad to come back it, she played games with Poppy. She was hiding in the bag, as if you couldn’t tell!

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful Mother’s Day, but most of all, thanks to my beautiful girl, because you are the reason I am a mom. I love you, and am the luckiest mom on earth.
